The Worlds has come and gone

The PDGA Worlds Pro and Am (disc golf) tournament was held in Kansas City last week, and now it is over. I did not play, but instead caddied for Matt Petre, he finished near the bottom in the Men's Advanced (amateur) division, but we had a lot of fun hanging out and catching up. We hardly ever get to hang out anymore, so it was a fun week. Too bad he didn't play better, but as the saying in disc golf -- the most fun wins! Caddying for disc golf is really not a big deal, but it's a good walk, and we have some of the most beautiful courses to play here in KC. He played Water Works on the first morning and it was raining. We played with the eventual champion that morning, Matt Keatts, a pretty nice guy from N. Carolina. That afternoon, he played Wyco, which is a fairly long and challenging course. Wednesday, we played my home course that morning, Prairie Center (Olathe) and Shawnee Mission, and we played Shawnee Mission again Thursday morning. Friday, he took on the monster of all courses, Blue Valley. Matt shot a respectable 81, he was hoping for 80 or under, but I believe that an 81 was a descent score. On Saturday we watched the finals at Blue Valley, and Avery Jenkins was the eventual winner in the Open division. Congrats to AJ, he's a good guy. His sister, Val, took home the top women's honor, her third World Championship. Hats off to Val, too. Next time the Worlds comes to KC, I'm definitely playing. Peace!
