Christmas gifts

Why can't I ever think of anything good to tell someone to get me for Christmas? I mean I know I always want things, but I never can seem to articulate what it is I really want when someone asks -- not that that happens too often. What do I want? Peace, new running shoes (even though it is too cold to run), a new Gilette Fusion razor, and then for the stuff I really want, a iPod nano, a LCD high-def TV 32 inches or more probably more would be better. What will I get? Probably some books, maybe a CD, underwear or socks perhaps both, some stupid knickknack I don't need.

Yesterday was our annual White Elephant Party at work, and I ended up with a shoe planter, or at least I think it may be a planter. But it is shaped like a dirty old ratty tennis shoe. I wish I had a picture of it to post, maybe I will take one and post it later. It was nasty, but I guess that is what a good white elephant gift is supposed to be.

so i just read in the Washington Post (WP) that w00t was selected as the Merriam-Webster's word of the year. To show you how far I am out of the mainstream, I was actaully unaware of this word or the whole idea of l337 sp33k. I'm just not geeky enough, who would have ever thought I would be saying that.

Morrison, Cauthen the muddle of KC politics

I just can't trust Mayor Funk, and this whole ouster of CM Cauthen seems pretty sleazy. I think the CM has done some pretty good things for KC and I hate to see him go this way. Funk, the strikes are building up and as we head to the end of the third, you way down. You need some offense quick, because it seems like you have been on defense since your term began earlier this year. Quickly, do something positive for the city and I don't think that is firing a fairly successful CM. Can you make it to the end of this game and play a doubleheader, at this time it looks like it may be tough, heck if things continue the way they are, you may be lucky to not have this game called early.

Now, as far as Paulie ... Mr. Kansas AG, you had so much political goodwill on your side and then you screwed it up, and I mean literally screwed it up. I hate to see you go out this way too, and I have no reason to believe you will quite and I don't think you probably should. But tread lightly for a few months, and I bet this blows over. Your a decent man, I truly believe, and I have met you several times and think this. I also have met Phill Kline on several occassions and I don't know if I would say the same. In fact, if anyone should resign, I would say it is PK. So Paulie I stick by you for now, but be careful.

New blog day

today, i start up a new blog. I had one previously, but I never posted to it. Now I promise to post. Promise, promise. It's a new year's resolution; i know it's not new year's yet ... I see the irony in that. but why put of till tomorrow what you can do today, not that that has ever really made me do something. but here i am beginning my new blog "Not Yet Edited" because as you will see most of this text will be raw thoughts typed out rather quickly. So there will be plenty of grammar and spelling errors for all you red pens out there to tear me apart. Please feel free to print out posts and edit them and send them back to me. I like being edited, but right now, I am not being edited, so if I'm verbose or have improper noun-verb agreement or just use plain crappy english, sue me, let me see you try. Well this is just a quick first post. More to come. I promise, some posts will hopefully include photos. Others will not. Some will be informative, most will not. Some will have humor, others will be dry and humorless. Some may contain satire, but probably not biting satire. Well that is your introduction to my new blog. Go on and now do something else not worthwhile, you know it's what you want to do.
